MURRAY HOUSE,

VANDON STREET,

BUCKINGHAM GATE,

LONDON, S.W.1.

27th February, 1930.

The Executive Committee of the National Council

of Women at its meeting held on the 21st instant, decided

to urge the Imperial Government to impress upon the

Government of Hong Kong that it should frame its policy

now with a view to making possible, at the earliest practicable date, the suppression of all brothels and that it should also

take steps to provide adequate facilities for free and con- fidential treatment of all persons suffering from venereal

diseases.

in

The National Council of Women further expresses the

hope that the Government will review this question in the light of the known conditions now existing in Fong Kong,1 order that when the Colony is visited by the League of Nations' Commission it may be able to report that the British Govern- ment is already taking the necessary steps towards a radical improvement of the conditions in regard to prothel-keeping,

procuration and the traffic in women."

In the hope that this important matter may receive

your very favourable consideration,

I am, sir,

Your obedient servant,

Mahr. heen.

Gentral Secretary.

The Prime Minister.
